How Long Will My Construction Project Take?

Timeline Expectations for Custom Homes and Major Remodels

One of the first questions we hear from clients—right after “How much will it cost?”—is, “How long is this going to take?” And it’s a great question, because time is just as valuable as money when it comes to building your dream home or undertaking a major renovation.

The honest answer: it depends. The timeline varies widely based on the size, scope, and complexity of the project. For most full-scale remodels or custom new builds, you should plan for a minimum of 16 months from the time we break ground to final completion. In some cases—especially when the site has challenging topography, poor soil conditions, or permitting hurdles—that timeline can stretch to 18 months or more.

In recent years, global supply chain disruptions and local labor shortages have added layers of unpredictability. Materials may take longer to arrive, and certain trades may be booked out months in advance. While these are often outside our control, we remain proactive in managing schedules and sourcing to mitigate delays whenever possible.

We know that every week of delay can cost money and create stress—not just for you, but for us as well. That’s why we are committed to staying on schedule without cutting corners. We prioritize clear communication, efficient project management, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

There’s an old saying in the building world that continues to hold true:

You can have it fast, you can have it cheap, or you can have it done well—pick two.

Our philosophy? Quality is non-negotiable. We’ll guide you toward the best balance of timing and cost while never compromising on craftsmanship.
